The Ark of the Covenant, a deeply revered artifact in biblical history, is described primarily in the Book of Exodus within the Hebrew Bible. It is said to be a gold-covered wooden chest containing the two stone tablets of the Ten Commandments, Aaron's rod that budded, and a pot of manna. According to the biblical narrative, the Ark was constructed by the Israelites under the direct command of God, following their exodus from Egypt. It symbolized God's presence among His people and was kept in the Most Holy Place of the Tabernacle and later the First Temple in Jerusalem. The Ark played a central role in religious rituals, leading the Israelites in their travels through the desert and in battles. Its whereabouts became unknown after the Babylonian conquest of Jerusalem in 587/586 BCE, leading to various legends and speculations about its fate.
