The Cailleach was a celtic goddess who ruled over the winds and winter. She appeared as an old, veiled woman, who was both creator and destroyer and served as a patron of wolves. This bronze figurine shows her crouched down, rough pigtails appearing from her veil, she holds a large wooden stick in one hand and a wooden mallet in the other. She is joined by a howling wolf who stands by her side.
